Black Mount Overnight Experience

THE BEST HILLWALKING AND WILD CAMPING TOURS IN SCOTLAND

About Us

We are passionate about the natural world and its beautiful wild places.

We have a deep respect and appreciation for the environment and a love for adventure and silent human-powered sports.

More about us

We love the idea that many people don’t know where Black Mount is: It’s remote and wild and lies between Glen Orchy and Glen Coe.

A complex mass of summits, ridges and corries.

Press your refresh button and hike into the wilderness for a 48-hour adventure. We all love that one big holiday a year – but let’s think of this as little and often.

We leave from Inveroran and hike to the summit of Stob Ghabhar at 1090 meters via the “little” Aonach Eagach ridge. The views across the wilds of Rannoch Moor and towards Glen Coe are spectacular.

We aim to make camp at 867 meters on the remote peninsula of Aonach Mor. This is a truly wild place to enjoy a hot evening meal and relax with friends after a big day.

Day two starts with breakfast, coffee, and a descent into the hidden Coirein Lochan, a beautiful mountain loch surrounded by rocky slopes and cliffs with waterfalls cascading down wide slabs into pools.

A perfect place for a dip in warm weather. From here we ascend Stob Choire Odhair at 945 meters and make the hike back to Inveroran.

What an experience! And let’s remember, a mind once stretched never returns to its original dimension.
