Paddle boarding is a unique and accessible water sport, and in Scotland with hundreds of lochs and rivers, and over 6000 km of coastline it an awesome way to experience nature and wild beautiful Scotland.

Silent and human powered, paddle boarding is your eco friendly way to experience remote wilderness, empty beaches, and inaccessible islands. It’s a way to “glide through nature” without leaving a footprint and experience the remote corners of Scotland.

Paddle Boarding Lessons in East Lothian

Our passionate team of paddle boarding instructors are all Academy of Surfing Instructors [ASI] qualified. The ASI set the world standard in surfing and paddle boarding education, and are the global leading professional membership organisation and governing body for our sport.

Paddle Boarding Safety

As with all water sports understanding safety, technique and good practice are key to having an enjoyable and safe experience. Paddle Boarding is no exception, and conditions can vary significantly from enclosed freshwater lochs, to moving bodies of water such as rivers, and the open ocean.

Each presents its own opportunities, challenges, and safety criteria. At Ocean Vertical we are here to help you find your level and offer professional paddle boarding lessons and coaching to support you on your SUP journey.

Choose Your Paddle Boarding Experience Level

If you are completely new to paddle boarding, then our Learn to Paddle Board [SUP] Level 1 lessons are perfect for you. And these lessons always take place on beautiful inland freshwater locations, so you can focus on your technique, and not worry about choppy waves!

If you have some experience of paddle boarding and are looking to progress your skills, knowledge, and technique then Paddle Boarding [SUP] Progression Level 2 is for you. We aim to run these sessions on the open ocean, but occasionally head inland if its just too choppy out there.

For those of you who have paddle boarding experience and want to take the step into an ocean adventure then Paddle Boarding [SUP] Island Tour – Level 3 is your ticket! A unique experience off the wild East Lothian coastline exploring its beautiful islands, such as Fidra, The Lamb and Craigleith.

These are beautiful and mainly inaccessible islands steeped in history and rich wildlife, such as gannets, seals, and dolphins. There’s even been sightings of Humpback whales! In season Craigleith has over 620 pairs of nesting puffins, and curiously, The Lamb is owned by Uri Geller who believes it is the hiding place for ancient Egyptian treasure!
