You deserve a day that’s entirely yours. Our day retreats in East Lothian combine mindfulness or yoga with your choice of adventure — surfing, paddle boarding (SUP) — set within the stunning natural landscapes of John Muir Country Park, just 25 miles from Edinburgh.

Begin your day at Ocean Vertical HQ — a beautifully restored 200-year-old Victorian stables on the edge of the John Muir Country Park, East Lothian.

Your morning sets the tone. Depending on the retreat you choose, you’ll start the day with either an extended yoga-inspired practice or a guided mindfulness and meditation workshop — both designed to help you slow down, feel grounded, and prepare body and mind for time in the wild.

For our Yoga Retreats, your morning session blends mobility, functional strength, breathwork and deep relaxation — led by our specialist instructor and tailored to prepare you for the water. Suitable for all levels, whether you’re new to yoga or returning to your mat.

For our Mindfulness Retreat, your 90-minute workshop is led by our qualified Mindfulness Practitioner and explores how mindfulness and meditation can become anchors to nature and personal wellbeing in daily life.

You’ll leave with practical tools and relaxation techniques to carry with you long after the day ends. No previous experience required.

A freshly prepared lunch follows — soup, sandwiches and seasonal salads from sustainable local suppliers, served in our sunny courtyard or by the warmth of the wood-burning stove.

Then the adventure begins. Kitted up and guided by your OV instructor, your afternoon takes you either to the beautiful surf of Belhaven Bay or onto the still, sheltered waters of a private woodland loch in the Lammermuir Hills for paddle boarding. Transport, wetsuits and all equipment are included.

The day ends back at OV HQ — warm showers, hot drinks by the fire, and the
particular quiet that comes from a day well spent outdoors.
