Scotland Women’s Rugby Team Adventure Day at Ocean Vertical
Early on the morning of 18th July, the unmistakable big blue Scotland Rugby coach rolled into the car park at Ocean Vertical HQ. One by one, 32 of the country’s top female rugby players stepped off the bus, joined by 17 dedicated support staff—the team behind Scotland Women’s 2025 World Cup campaign.
The team had arrived for a full day of adventure, connection, and recovery ahead of what will be one of the biggest sporting moments of their careers.
The day began with fresh pastries, coffee, and a relaxed welcome briefing at Ocean Vertical HQ. The team had the chance to meet their expert adventure guides and get a feel for the day ahead. Spirits were high as the players and staff made the short, scenic walk through the woods to our neighbours at Foxlake Adventures.
There, the squad had an exclusive session on the Foxlake Aqua Park—a giant floating inflatable obstacle course that brought out plenty of laughter, splashes, and a healthy bit of competition.
After drying off, the group returned to Ocean Vertical for a well-earned lunch: a BBQ feast cooked up by Field Fire Fork, one of our trusted catering partners. Chef Pete and his team fired up their giant trailer BBQ in the courtyard, serving a mouth-watering spread of grilled meats, fresh salads, and breads for the team to enjoy together under the East Lothian sun.
Afternoon Adventures: Pushing Limits & Having Fun
In the afternoon, the group split into teams to explore a range of thrilling experiences:
- A daring group dove into coasteering along the East Lothian coast, guided by our Ocean Vertical instructors.
- A group headed up to our private loch in the hills for a paddle boarding lesson
- Others enjoyed a scenic electric mountain bike tour with Ezee Riders, taking in stunning coastal views.
- The remainder returned to Foxlake, conquering the FoxFall ropes course, then unwinding with sauna recovery and a refreshing lake dip.
It was the perfect blend of adrenaline, relaxation, and team building.
Scotland at the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup
Scotland’s World Cup campaign starts on 23 August 2025, when they take on Wales at Salford Community Stadium in Manchester. Their tournament runs from 22 August to 27 September, concluding at Twickenham.
In Pool B, they face Canada, Wales, and Fiji:
- Scotland vs Wales – 23 August
- Scotland vs Fiji – 30 August
- Scotland vs Canada – 6 September
Watch out for standout players like Francesca McGhie, Rhona Lloyd, and Sarah Bonar, who’ll be instrumental in Scotland’s campaign this summer.
