Our customers' questions about SUP safety have been increasingly frequent — and for good reason! As more people discover the freedom of stand-up paddle boarding, the need for knowledge and skill in the sport has never been greater.

Ocean Vertical’s SUPSAFE campaign is our call to water users to paddle smarter. It’s about mastering essential safety skills and becoming confident at paddle boarding on both coastal and inland waters.

SUPSAFE Lessons at Ocean Vertical

Confidence and knowledge on the water transforms everything. At Ocean Vertical, our Level 1 beginner and Level 2 progression sessions are led by professionally qualified and highly experienced (ASI) paddle board instructors. These lessons focus on building confidence, stability, water-safety, and the participants ability to self-rescue (get back on the paddle board from the water).

Our Level 1 lessons take place on a sheltered inland loch, a calm and beginner friendly location to start to build the foundations of SUP technique. While our Level 2 lessons aim (weather and ocean condition dependant) to be on the sea at every possible opportunity at stunning locations such as Seacliff Beach, Belhaven Bay and Gullane Bay.

Water Safety Lecture – Thursday 19th June 

To kick off the season and deepen your understanding, join us on Thursday 19th, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, for a Water Safety Evening hosted by Stevie Boyle, Ocean Vertical’s Director and Co-Founder. 

Stevie brings decades of experience in outdoor leadership and water safety, and this session is your chance to learn directly from the source — ideal for both newcomers and seasoned paddlers.
